Static and flow behaviors of supercritical CO<sub>2</sub> foam stabilized with betaine surfactant for mobility control application

Aiming at improving the stability of Supercritical CO 2 (SC-CO ) foam in high temperature and salinity reservoirs, a kind betaine surfactant, Hexadecyl Hydroxypropyl Sulfo Betaine (HHSB), was screened to stabilize SC-CO foam. The properties were improved elevated pressure. effects surfactant concentration, temperature, pressure on film drainage rate measured explore results showed that an increase can decrease enhance stability, which attributed adsorption gas–liquid interface. performance formed by HHSB tolerant up 100 °C. 1-D core flooding experiments indicated compared with Coinjection Surfactant Gas (CSG) method generated through Surfactant-Alternative-Gas (SAG) had lower strength but better in-depth migration capacity. 3-D sand Water-Alternative-Gas (WAG) case broke early permeability layers. In SAG case, improve macroscopic sweep efficiency reducing mobility.
